People In The Israeli Economy.
Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
Leads TheMarker's List of the 100 Most Influential
People, Followed by David Klein, Yoav Lehman, Eyal
Ben Sheloush and Nochi Dankner.

Magazine, the leading business magazine in Israel,
today revealed the list of the 100 most influential
people in the Israeli economy - led by:
Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,
followed by Bank of Israel Governor David Klein, Supervisor
of Banks Yoav Lehman and the treasury's Capital Market
Commissioner, Eyal Ben Sheloush. The leading businessman
on the list is Nochi Dankner, Chairman of IDB, who
is ranked in fifth place.
Businessmen and bankers occupy the
next five places, which are as follows:
Shlomo Nehama, chairman of Bank Hapoalim
and CEO of Arison Investments; the new CEO of Bank
Hapoalim, Zvi Ziv; the CEO of Bank Leumi, Galia Maor,
together with bank chairman Eitan Raff; businessmen
Yitzhak Tshuva, who owns and controls Delek; and Idan
Ofer, chairman and co-owner of The Israel Corporation
and Mizrahi Bank. The ranking will appear in the upcoming
September edition.
The ranking appears for the third
consecutive year. It draws the power map of the Israeli
business world in 2003-2004.
The list of 100 is, according to TheMarker
Magazine:
The Finance Minister and the Bank
of Israel Governor, who lead the list as the key people
behind the government's economic program to stabilize
the economy and end the recession, and in effect,
to spur increased investment, by foreign investors
in particular.
Alongside them is the Supervisor of
Banks, Yoav Lehman, who bears responsibility for the
proper functioning of the Israeli banking system,
and the Capital Market Commissioner, who is responsible
for restructuring the pension funds and for bringing
them to the capital market.
The situation of the Israeli economy
places members of the government and the regulatory
agencies at the head of the list, together with the
top-tier bankers, who make key decisions regarding
the flow of capital and the routing of credit.
The list includes people spanning
a range of fields from the capital market, finances,
banking, industry, real estate, hi-tech, communications
and media, and more.
