After-Shave - Use diluted lemon juice, or
make a mixture of 1 cup of strong mint tea and 1 tablespoon
of vodka.
Bath or Body Powder - Cornstarch, tapioca or
arrowroot are effective as bath powders.
Dandruff Preventer - Mix 1/2 cup of vinegar
with 1/2 cup of water and rinse hair before shampooing. Do
this twice a week.
Deodorant - Mix baking soda with a pinch of
cornstarch to increase absorbency, or dip a cotton ball in
cider vinegar and rub on appropriate areas. When the vinegar
dries, its odor disappears. Or use witch hazel.
Eye Drops - Lie down, place cucumber slices
or wet tea bags on closed eyes, leave for five to ten
minutes.
Face Cream or Moisturizer - Use a light
coating of olive, coconut or any light oil.
Facial Mask - Apply yogurt, raw papaya, egg
white, or a paste of oatmeal and water. Let dry, splash on
cool water and blot dry.
Hair Color - For Brunettes: Pour strong
black coffee or black tea over your hair 15 times, re-using
the same rinse, let set 15 minutes, and rinse.
For a red shade; mix 1/2 cup beet juice with
1/2-cup carrot juice; pour over damp hair, let set for an
hour and rinse.
For blondes; mix 1-cup lemon juice with 3
cups chamomile tea, pour through damp hair, and let sit for
an hour and rinse out. Follow with conditioner.
Hair Conditioner - Beat one egg yolk with
half a cup of plain yogurt. Rub mixture into freshly washed
hair, let stand 3 to 5 minutes. Rinse well.
Hair Gel - Mix 1/2 to 1 tablespoon
unflavored gelatin in 1 cup warm water. Keep refrigerated
and use as you would any hair gel.
Hair Setting Lotion - Mix half a cup of warm
water with three teaspoons fine sugar.
Mouthwash - Gargle with cool mint tea or a
teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in a glass of
water.
Perfume or Cologne - Dip cotton ball in
peppermint or lemongrass oils and apply lightly.
Shampoo - Beat one egg into one-cup lukewarm
water. If you desire suds, add grated soap or liquid soap.
For a rinse, mix one tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice with
one pint of water.
Shaving Cream - Coat skin with soap or light
vegetable oil.
Skin Cleanser - Grind oatmeal, almonds, or
sunflower seeds in blender. Pour a teaspoonful into the palm
of your hand and add enough water to make a paste. Pat
gently over face twice a day and rinse with cool
water.
Toothpaste - Use baking soda or mix half a
cup of baking soda with a teaspoon of salt. Whip in blender
into fine power. If you are on a salt-free diet, brush with
plain water. It is the act of flossing and brushing, the
mechanical dislodging of food debris, not the toothpaste
that does the most good.
